About Midwesco Mechanical and Energy
Midwesco Mechanical and Energy is a Chicagoland mechanical contractor that specializes in the design, implementation, and maintenance of sustainable, energy efficient systems. The company was founded on July 1, 1931 by two aspiring chemical engineers, Erwin Mautner and Paul Unger and was named Mid-West Heat Service Co. Their goal was to design and manufacture an excellent oil burner and create a reputable heating service company.
Their sons, Henry and David, continued to grow the business in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. During this period, Midwesco became known as an innovative and engineering oriented mechanical contractor that provided cost effective and energy efficient installations for some of the most important and prestigious projects in the area. Variable air volume, thermal storage, low temperature air, cogeneration, and even vertical riser fan coils were all first introduced and promoted in Chicago by Midwesco. This established our place in the market and resulted in repeat business from many clients.
Today’s management team and ownership have been working in and running the company since the 1980s. We continue to push innovation in the marketplace. For example, by offering Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology we deliver significant value to our clients. This approach to planning, design, construction, and management activities greatly improves the final product in both the building and infrastructure industries.
